Congratulations to JOHN ESPOSITO
John opened up a gap in the last 150 meters of yesterdays Ola
Valley road race for a convincing win against his two, much
younger, breakaway mates in the Master 45+ and Cat 4 men’s
race
CRAIG SAHLI, a Cat 3 racer was the sole IO/LRC racer in the
lead Group in the Master 35+ 1,2,3 race. He launched from a
kilometer to go but in the end was swamped by two other outfits
setting up their sprinters. You can't win unless you try to
win and Kudos to Craig on a mighty effort that was well thought
out in face of the odds he was looking at. KEN JONES and BILL
REED finished in the first chase group.
In the Pro/1/2 race, illness held out one of our strong men
again but IO/LRC made a mighty effort in light of lackluster
racing from BODE and George's teams. With Subway and ORBEA riders
making an early move off the front that would have been brought
back with a cooperative effort, IO/LRC was left by the others
to work on their own, In the end, the break stayed away, but
JT THEIS took revenge on those who hadn't pitched in to win
the field sprint and take the final podium spot. TOPHER HURLEY
and THOMAS GRANT also finished in the top ten overall. Given
the way these guys have ridden these first couple of races,
once we get to a race with everyone healthy, we have the prospect
of some good results.
Another podium result for IO/LRC and congratulations to NICK
HARDY who took a solid third in the Men’s Cat 4/5 race.
Special Thumbs up to Drs Alex Homaechevarria and Kurt Nillson
who along with Bill Reed were three Intermountain Orthopaedics/LRC
racers out of a total of nearly 25 of our members facing the
relatively brutal Ola Valley course on a wet and chilly spring
day.
