The 16th stage from Mourex, in the cycle racing track called after Merckx, to Pau after 180,5 km. marked in a sprint from far, already after 27 km from starting. The Domina Vacanze German rider Georg Ludwig took part in this sprint and finally he arrived at 7th place. The stage was won by the Spanish Oscar Pereiro who defeated the fellow countryman Xabier Zandio, third Eddy Mazzoleni before Cadel Evans. Far away, with only 2'25", we have 8 riders with first the Belgium Gilbert and 7th our Ludwig who arrived on the finishing line 1' before the yellow shirt Amstrong.
The Domina Team got a good placement for Ludwig in general classified results, while the whole team is always at 16th place on 21 teams. After the race Ludwig, interviewed on German tv, told : "I'm happy of my result, also if I'm rather sad because today I have been very well and I thought to arrive on the finishing line and have the possibility to win for my team. In the last we tried to reach the four riders before u, but they had another tempo annd we had also opposite wind......".
