At the first stage of 60th Tour de Romandie the Italian Team MILRAM rider Mirco Lorenzetto won a very good second place. The race ended in a bunch-sprint. Winner of this first 169 kilometers around Payerne was the Australian rider Robbie McEwen (Davitamon-Lotto). Daniele Bennati from Team Lampre got the third place.
Mirco Lorenzetto about his good positioning: "Finally I reached a good position in a race. In the beginning of this year I had a lot of health problems. Now everything is ok and I can concentrate on cycling. In the team briefing of this morning we had decided that me and Ongarato would make the sprint, also that our teammates should help us in the end of stage. Thanks to my team for all support! In the sprint I started behind and I was not as fast as McEwen. I feel my condition is good and I hope to win one of the next stages." |
