Alessandro Petacchi has finished the Giro d'Italia with five stage victories in the bag. It brings his total Giro stage victories to 24, equalling the great Guiseppi Saronni. Petacchi claimed the purple cyclamen jersey for the second time in his career. Ale-jet, as he is known by his fans, finished his Giro by winning the final stage sprint. Petacchi's excellent Giro has been a stark contrast to the 2006 Giro when he crashed out with a fractured kneecap on the third stage. Wiil Petacchi ride the TDF? We'll know soon. Team Milram races and trains on the Panaracer Extreme EVO2 tire. Italy's Danilo Di Luca took the final overall GC.

We are still waiting for the Milram Team roster for the Tour de France. The lingering questions are; will Petacchi ride? And will Eric Zabel participate in his 11th consecutive Tour de France. His participation is only in doubt due to his recent doping admissions when he rode for T-Mobile in the 90's. Christian Prudhomme, the director of the TDF has made it clear that he is trying to have a clean race and that Zabel's participation may be in jeopardy due to his recent admission. On Petacchi's side, coming off of 5 stage wins in the Giro certainly places him well for a good performance at the Tour de France. A performance that has eluded him thus far in his career. We will keep this news section updated with Milram results from the TDF.

Erik Zabel won his second consecutive stage at the Bayern Rundfart today with team-mates Sebastian Siedler finishing third and Marcel Sieberg sixth. This second stage win gives Mr. Zabel the yellow leaders tunic. Zabel ended up finishing 15th overall on general classification. Team Milram races and trains on the Panaracer Extreme EVO2 tire. Watch for Zabel to start his 11th consecutive Tour de France.

Ralf Grabsch (Ger) Team Milram was the top Milram finisher in the annual "Hell of the North". It was particularly hot and dry this year. Stuart O'grady took the top honors. Team Milram managed to have 2 riders in the top 10. It was a mass gallop to the line with a remaining field of about 40 odd riders charging to the line after covering almost 300 km. Erik Zabel finished 6th and Alessandro Petacchi 8th both in the same time as the winner Oscar Freire of the Rabobank team. Petacchi had an excellent lead-out by his team only to fall prey to Freire's last minute jump from his wheel. This was Freire's second "Primavera" win.
